Sripatum University (SPU) believes a university can only teach fairness if it practises fairness as an employer. From hiring to retirement, SPU judges its people on ability and character, never on who they are, and in 2026 its University Council wrote that principle into a new Code of Ethics.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"Recipients<\/p>\n

\"Excellent-levelSPU’s Policy on Promoting and Supporting Equality and Equity among Personnel, grounded in Thailand’s Constitution and Gender Equality Act, is the university’s anti-discrimination policy for the workplace. It guarantees equal employment opportunity and rules out hiring discrimination, pay discrimination and unfair treatment in appraisal, training and promotion on grounds of origin, race, ethnicity, language, religion, gender, age, disability, health or personal status. The same protection extends to retired staff.<\/p>\n

On 31 July 2026 the University Council reaffirmed the principle in the SPU Code of Ethics Regulation 2026. Every executive and staff member must respect equality and must not discriminate unfairly. An Ethics Protection Committee that includes academic and support staff representatives now hears complaints and reports to the Council every year. The policy was also presented as SPU’s equal-opportunity employment policy at the IEAC evaluation in March 2026.<\/p>\n

Across the 2025\/26 academic year, equality in the workplace showed up in concrete decisions. In April 2026 the Department of Older Persons Affairs gave SPU its Excellent-level award for promoting employment and income for older persons, a public recognition of SPU’s stance against age discrimination. The Human Resources Office ran vocational training for persons with disabilities, starting with a Japanese clay-flower course with the Rotary Club in September 2025 and continuing in 2026 with a longer quality-of-life and employment-pathway programme with a social enterprise, free of charge and with stipends. In July 2026 the Dr. Sook Pookayaporn Honor Award honoured role models at every level, from executives and lecturers to administrative staff and a maintenance worker, judged on conduct and dedication rather than rank. At the SPU Staff Meeting 2025 and the Alpha Ready Forum, academic and support staff took part side by side, in line with the Alpha Ready Roadmap.<\/p>\n

The result is an inclusive workplace and a diverse workforce in which people of different ages, genders, abilities and backgrounds can build careers on merit, with a clear channel to raise concerns. This advances decent work, employment equity and employment protection, supports equality and anti-discrimination, and reflects transparent governance. Under the Reinventing University strategy, SPU continues to align its HR procedures with these commitments.<\/p>\n
