Sripatum University keeps carbon-intensive energy out of its plans and its investments, and puts that commitment to work on its own rooftops and walkways.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"Solar-poweredPolicy and purpose.<\/strong> Sripatum University (SPU) has a university-wide Energy and Environmental Conservation Policy (Announcement No. 100\/2565), first set in 2018 and revised in November 2022. It responds to a simple question: where should a university’s energy money go? The answer is clear in its third clause. SPU reduces, adjusts or ends activities that depend on fossil fuels, and this includes investing in, or starting energy projects that rely on, coal or oil. Instead, the policy favours solar, wind and hydro power, along with low-carbon building materials.<\/p>\n

Governance and action.<\/strong> The Office of Building and Facilities puts the policy into daily practice, and the Energy Management Committee tracks results each year as part of SPU’s legal duties as a designated controlled building. In September 2026 the university reshaped this oversight. It appointed an Energy, Environment and Greenhouse Gas Committee (Order No. 407\/2569), which is tasked with recommending policy updates, keeping a greenhouse gas inventory and supporting renewable energy projects. On campus, the solar rooftop on Building 11 and standalone solar lights along walkways show where the money goes. Upgrades to air-conditioning and lighting in Buildings 1, 5 and 9 cut grid demand even further.<\/p>\n

Every unit of electricity the campus generates or saves is one less unit drawn from a grid that still runs largely on fossil fuels.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Impact and next steps.<\/strong> The policy links finance, infrastructure and governance, supporting the global goals of affordable and clean energy and climate action. It also advances the SMART, operation-ready dimension of SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap. The new committee will review the policy against changes in technology and national climate targets.<\/p>\n

By keeping coal and oil out of its investments and backing clean energy on campus, SPU shows that a university’s budget can be one of its strongest tools for climate action.<\/strong><\/p>\n
