SPU Champions Sustainable Aquatic Food Policies for Health and Biodiversity<\/strong>
Sripatum University integrates responsible sourcing, healthy diets, and ecosystem conservation under SDG 14 to protect aquatic resources and community well-being.<\/p>\n

Sripatum University (SPU) has strengthened its commitment to environmental and social sustainability by adopting policies on Food from Aquatic Ecosystems<\/strong>, fully aligned with SDG 14: Life Below Water<\/strong>. The initiative highlights the university\u2019s role in promoting sustainable sourcing, dietary health, and biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n

SPU\u2019s Office of Buildings and Facilities plays a leading role by ensuring that fish and aquatic products consumed on campus come from sustainable fisheries and certified aquaculture practices<\/strong>. Restaurants within the university \u2014 over 50 in number \u2014 are encouraged to serve fish and seafood that meet environmental and health standards. These choices not only safeguard aquatic ecosystems but also provide students and staff with nutrient-rich food sources, high in protein and omega-3 fatty acids.<\/p>\n

The university also promotes waste reduction in water resources<\/strong> and supports the restoration of aquatic ecosystems<\/strong> in nearby communities. Collaboration with local and national organizations enables SPU to advance research on sustainable food systems and to raise awareness about the dangers of overfishing and unsustainable consumption.<\/p>\n

Through these integrated measures, SPU demonstrates how higher education institutions can take leadership in protecting aquatic life while advancing community health and global sustainability goals.<\/p>\n
