SPU Greener, Smarter: Water-Saving Landscapes Build a Cooler, More Sustainable Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sripatum University (SPU) continues to make sustainability a living reality through its green campus initiatives\u2014this time, by reimagining landscape design with water conservation at its core. Through water-efficient tree planting, smart irrigation, and eco-conscious materials, SPU once again proves that even green space can contribute directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n

Guided by SDG 6.4.1<\/strong> (increasing water-use efficiency), SPU\u2019s Office of Facilities leads the implementation of smart sprinkler systems with programmable timers and moisture sensors to avoid unnecessary watering. Additionally, the university prioritizes drought-tolerant native plants and deep-rooted trees suitable for Bangkok\u2019s hot climate. These landscape strategies reduce water usage while keeping the campus lush.<\/p>\n

Artificial grass has also been installed in concrete-heavy areas to expand green visual spaces without high water demand\u2014cutting heat retention and helping reduce local temperatures. This practical innovation contributes to SDG 13<\/strong>, by helping the university adapt to urban heat impacts and climate variability.<\/p>\n

Notably, solar-powered water pumps in selected zones enhance SDG 7<\/strong> on clean energy use, proving that landscape and energy strategies can go hand in hand. Combined, these solutions offer a sustainable blueprint for resource-efficient urban green management.<\/p>\n

From soil to sky, Sripatum University is cultivating a climate-conscious campus\u2014proving that every leaf, every drop, and every watt counts toward a more sustainable and cooler future.<\/p>\n
