Sripatum University (SPU) has launched an innovative Recycling Bank initiative, designed to improve waste management on campus and foster environmental responsibility among students and staff. This project aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, “Climate Action,” by promoting efficient recycling practices and reducing landfill waste.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Recycling Bank enables students and staff to sort and deposit recyclable materials, incentivizing participation through a “deposit book” system, similar to a traditional bank account. This system not only reduces waste but also generates funds through the sale of recyclables, which can be reinvested into sustainable campus projects. The program encourages discipline in waste disposal, raises awareness of recycling benefits, and aims to lower the university\u2019s carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

By establishing this Recycling Bank, SPU directly contributes to SDG 13 by reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with waste, and indirectly to other goals, such as SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by fostering a cleaner, more sustainable campus, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaborations with environmental organizations. This initiative underscores SPU’s commitment to sustainability and climate action, setting a benchmark for eco-friendly practices in educational institutions.<\/p>\n
