ASEAN Discovery Camp 2017: Trip to Indonesia
Sripatum International College and Office of International Relations organized SPU ASEAN Discovery Camp to Indonesia from 23-26 March 2017. This study trip aimed to provide the students an opportunity to explore one of the ASEAN member countries – Indonesia, to experience Indonesian language and culture. Led by Assistant to the Director for Student Affairs, International College – Mr. Surachai Suantubtim, and Assistant to the Director, Office of International Relations – Ms. Nattaporn Pienchob, a total of 10 students participated in the trip as part of their ASEAN Studies subject. The program activities included the visits to the cities of Jakarta and Bandung. While in Jakarta, the faculties and students made a visit to the Royal Thai Embassy, where the Ambassador Pitchayaphant Charnbhumidol personally welcomed the group for a meeting and showed his kindness in sharing his knowledge and perspective about Indonesia.
Another visit in Jakarta also included ASEAN Secretariat housed at the Department of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. During the meeting, the students were briefed on ASEAN and trade development in ASEAN. In addition to opportunities and challenges of ASEAN, the briefing also included the introduction to major areas of economic cooperation in ASEAN. Followed by the excursion to Bandung city, the students had an opportunity to visit leisure and entertainment destination such as Tangkuban Perahu - a stratovolcano 30 km north of the city of Bandung.
